The mask is the egel - the parsha says it

Shemos 32:4: 

וַיִּקַּ֣ח מִיָּדָ֗ם וַיָּ֤צַר אֹתוֹ֙ בַּחֶ֔רֶט וַיַּֽעֲשֵׂ֖הוּ עֵ֣גֶל מַסֵּכָ֑ה

And if one reads it like a goy, left to right, it says the mask is a (golden) calf.
